I have been playing football since I was born and played for Fulham Deaf Ladies and won the Triple League.

My journey with football has been a rollercoaster, after Fulham Deaf FC closed down, I joined Hackney and Clapham Football for a while, then joined 5 aside tournaments around UK and now play futsal with a hearing club every week in Bristol.

I enjoy running, creative art, collecting unique trinkets and reading books.

Grew up playing football, starting at 5 years old.

Joined my first team at 7 with Chellaston Boys Red Sox.

Got scouted by Nottingham Forest during my first season and trained with them for a year before moving on. Was involved in Derby County development set up for 3 years during the age of 12-15.

Represented England for first time during the world up in Malaysia Was part of the England Futsal set up as well, palying in the Euros. I enjoy playing football and owe a lot to my parents. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I did cross-country in high school and got my first pair of road running shoes when I was 17. But I stopped doing sport for a while and didn’t return to it until 2019, when I started doing Parkruns. My first Parkrun took 29 minutes and I couldn’t run 5K nonstop. Over time, my times steadily improved as I built healthier habits and found motivation through running.

In 2023, I joined Bellahouston Road Runners, which helped me take things to the next level. I shaved 9 minutes off my 5K time and started racing longer distances. I fell in love with long-distance running and began exploring trails in the Scottish countryside, including some munros. Long runs became the highlight of my week, and I’m grateful to have the stamina to do them.

I find women, especially mothers, who take on ultra trail challenges deeply inspiring. For example, Stephanie Case, who breastfed her six-month-old at feed stations in an ultra, really stands out. I want to be like her one day!

I hail from the home of golf itself - Scotland! I began playing golf at age 10 at my local club in the Southside of Glasgow, representing Eastwood Golf Club’s junior team in local competitions.

A keen all-round sportsman, I excelled across multiple sports, including football and swimming, and went on to represent my district in rugby.

As I entered adulthood, I chose to focus on golf and continued playing while studying and working abroad in the Netherlands, Germany and Australia before returning to the UK.

Back home, I set my sights on competitive golf and entered the Deaflympics qualifier in May 2025 in Stafford, England. After months of focused preparation, my efforts paid off with a top-three finish – securing my place on the DeaflympicsGB team for Tokyo.

Playing out of Bearsden Golf Club, I am training hard for Tokyo and I’m proud to represent Great Britain on the international stage – and to help raise the profile of deaf golf around the world.

Women’s Deaf Football is an interesting experience. I’ve been playing professionally on and off for over 10 years.

I’ve loved football since I was little — it’s always been a big part of my life. I enjoy staying active and challenging myself. When I was 17, I got selected to represent the England deaf football team at the European Deaf Championships in Crete, which was a huge moment for me and really set things in motion. From there, I’ve kept working hard to grow in the sport. As a deaf player, I’ve always wanted to prove that we can achieve just as much as anyone else. It motivates me to keep pushing for more, not just for myself but to inspire others too.

I started the learn to swim stages at York City Baths Club and eventually I was invited to be part of the training squads. I am now in the national squad within the club, competing alongside hearing swimmers.

I also played football when I was younger, but at age 15 made the decision to concentrate on swimming only. My family have always been a big inspiration and support my swimming at every level. Over the last few years I feel fortunate to have also been trained and supported by my coach at York, Josh Spencer, and also Martin Lee when with the GB Deaf Swimming Team.

My Dad was a massive influence who got me to love football so much. My Deaflympics debut was when I was only 18 years old. The first game was against South Korea in Samsun, Turkey, a memory of wearing the Great Britain jersey that I will never forget.

At 7 I joined Leicester City Ladies FC. I was nervous as I was deaf and it was a hearing team. I did amazing. At 9 I was moved a year up so was playing at u11. I attended an inclusion tournament at St George’s park when I was 10 and was advised to attend a Regional Emerging Talent program for the England FA. I’m currently on their National Emerging Talent program. Through this I met some inspiring players who advised I try for the Winter Deaflympics 2024. I was successful in selection and scored on my debut game. I’ve just ended with an amazing local team, Beaumont Park FC, as this team has folded, but we managed to secure leagues and cups together. I am currently playing for Rugby Borough FC in the Junior Premier League. I’m extremely excited to represent Great Britain in the upcoming Deaflympics and believe we can achieve the ultimate success, to bring home Gold!

I started playing when I was 5 & played county football through my teens. I’ve played semi professionally since I was 15. Professional clubs scouted me but found out I was deaf and weren’t interested.

GB found me when I was 18 playing for England in the World Cup in Greece (2008). Playing for GB in Deaflympics 2009 in Taiwan, is still my best experience ever.

I’m very competitive and also play for England Deaf Cricket Team. My love of travel and animals were combined on my favourite holiday; a safari trip in South Africa where I also proposed to my wife in 2022. I’ve been modelling since I was 18 & have lived in New York & Los Angeles. I’ve appeared on TV programmes, such as SAS Who Dares Wins & Deal or No Deal.

I started playing football when i was 10 and got scouted by Burnley when I was 12. This only lasted 6 months but I went on to play for local teams; Rishton and Great Harwood.

Having played for Blackpool and Manchester City disability teams. I then got told about trials for England and desided to go along.

I started playing deaf football in 2015, at 20 years of age. The trials were held in Wolverhampton and I got selected before going on to play in my first European deaf championship in Crete.

I then signed for Doncaster Deaf, where I played my first ever Deaf Champions League game near London, before playing for Darwen Deaf. From then I’ve played in a World Cup in Malaysia and another European Championship in Turkey.

I started playing football at 6 years old and played for my local team, Leven AFC, then moved onto Teesside RTE at 14. Now I am in a Step 4 Women’s Squad.

I also used to play a lot of instruments, for example I was Grade 7 at the piano, Grade 6 in the violin & viola and Grade 4 in the drums. I have spoken at the house of commons twice about music and my passion for sport.

I first got into tennis when I had just started primary school and a local tennis coach called Jason Boon came into my school. He identified that I had good hand-eye coordination and got me to come along to the club. I then stayed at Frampton on Severn for roughly 12 years coached by Jason Boon then Joe Waters. I then went to riverside in Gloucester where I am coached by Kristian Newman and receive strength and conditioning training from Pete at riverside

Football has always been my escape. I discovered deaf football when I was 18, when the GB U23s trails were held for the Euro U23s in Poland. I was made captain during this tournament and since then I’ve been heavily involved in deaf football at the international and club domestic level. I missed the last Deaflympics due to injuries and work commitments, but looking to complete the cycle by representing GB in Tokyo. This will mean I have done all 3 World Cup, Euros and then Deaflympics. A rare feat to achieve.

My first Deaflympics was in 2009, in Tawain. That was one of the best tournaments I have been in, so roll on now to my 3rd Deaflympics in Japan!

2025 would be top the achievement if GB get go home with a Gold!

I was a goalkeeper form day one to age 16, before failing the final trails with Airdrie United FC because of my deafness. After that I decide to come out of goal and play outfield. I still play in goal as a back up for my team.

I was born a footballer, playing non-stop since day one. I also enjoy going to gym, bowls, golf, and cycling. I am a very active sporty person.

I have been playing football since the age of 6. My mother used to take me training on the bus or walk. I fell in love with the sport and still have the heart to play now. I trained as a kid at Manchester United (deaf) and went on Old Trafford at half time. I’m also a big Chelsea fan. The likes of Drogba, Hazard and Lampard inspired to play football even more!. I recently started a new hobby, which is Padel! A bit of fun with friends and social.

I found deaf football 4 years ago, I made some fantastic relationships and got picked through the trial at England deaf trial which is something I loved doing, Lastly, I love long distance running - this is something I do in my own time.

I had a career in Sports Management, whilst playing tennis and then golf. I am married with twin boys, who are now 26 years of age. Both of them also played golf from an early age, and are now tennis coaches.

Having only found out about the Deaflympics very recently, I am keen to promote and encourage participation!

I started playing football at the age of 13. Starting out as a striker, then winger, then full back.

I now play for Wales Deaf, St John’s and Afan United.

I also love playing tennis and go the gym regularly. I’ve played in charity football games, playing against ex pros, and travelled all over Europe with deaf football.

I started shooting in 2010 at Heston and Hounslow Rifle Club. I got lots of encouragement from the people there, particularly Bob Lester, and that helped me progress to achieving good results in competitions.

I have won a number of medals and trophies over the years. I also joined Muzzle Loaders association of Great Britain (Black Powder), travelling to competitions. Allan Whiffin helped me progress with black powder.

I always enjoy shooting and now the Deaflympics is another challenge with hopefully good results.

I enjoy lots of sport and play netball and cricket as swimming. I started swimming when I was 7 at Rugby swimming club and later joined GB Deaf Swimming. It was only a couple of years ago that swimming became my focus after I started to win lots of medals and then qualified for GB Nationals.

Growing up, I always loved all sports. I have played and won with Derby Deaf Futsal in tournaments. My family have always been into football, my dad is a Manchester United fan and my mum is a Leicester City fan. We were season ticket holders when Leicester won the Premier League and those memories of that football season will stay with me forever.

I have mostly grown up playing football at school and with my dad and brother. I was always really self-conscious because of my deafness to join a hearing team until the last couple of years. I can't remember how I heard about the Deaflympics, but I just knew that I should go along and try out. I loved it; all the staff and other girls were so friendly. They knew I was worried and anxious, but they made me so welcome and a part of the team. Away from football, I enjoy playing my PS5, especially adventure-type games. I enjoy being outside with friends, as well as travelling and visiting new places.

I am currently a student at a grammar school, and joined Worcester Swimming Club in 2018 when I was 9 years old. I joined GB Deaf Swimming in 2023 when I was 13 after my surgery for cochlear implants in the February of that year.

I always enjoyed playing football and going to Japan will be really important to me as it will be my last tournament at national level. I will miss it!

My other hobby at moment is running.

I’m proud to be representing DeaflympicsGB at the 25th Deaflympics in Tokyo. I began my competitive swimming journey in 2017 at nine years old, joining my local swimming club with a determination to succeed.

Alongside my intense training schedule, I have just completed my GCSEs, balancing academic commitments with the goal of qualifying for the Deaflympics.

I have achieved Grade 5 in piano and have a deep love of history. My journey to the Deaflympics has been fuelled by inspiration from previous GB Deaflympians, some of whom I met at the age of seven - a moment that sparked my dream to one day follow in their footsteps.

As a deaf athlete, I have overcome significant challenges in the pool - from not hearing the starting buzzer to missing out on verbal coaching cues and the roar of the crowd. Despite this, I have swum at a national level, earning me a place among the UK's elite deaf athletes.

I hope my journey shows other young deaf people that, with commitment and belief, no obstacle is too great.

I took up tennis at the age of 10, after having little involvement in sport after my diagnosis with deafness at aged 2. I’ve since been involved in deaf tennis for over 10 years, representing the country numerous times and being lucky enough to bring a few medals home. I’ll be aiming for my first Deaflympics medal this November.

I have always loved sport, my main one being football but I have also participated in swimming, hockey, tennis and athletics throughout my school life. My job as a Physiotherapist also stems from my love of sport, exercise and fitness.

I live with my partner Sam and we have a 4 year old son together. I continued to train/participate in football up until 6 months pregnant and made my return to sport 6 months following birth. He was 2 years old when I went to Malaysia to play for England at the Deaf World Championships.

My other hobbies include travelling, spending time with my friends and family, and food. I also support Luton Town FC!

My entry into swimming was a running joke, as my mother, who is Deaf herself, was afraid I could not hear the shark alarm at the beach in Australia.

So, she put me in swimming classes!

I am a diehard Chelsea FC fan as my whole family is, and also love F1, Mercedes is my team!. Outside the pool & studies my time is mostly taken up with advocacy work. I’m a Trustee for Board Racial Diversity UK, White Ribbon UK & 64 Million Artists, and Youth Advisory Board Member for EY Foundation & Mental Health Innovations. I’m an iWill Movement Ambassador, serving as the National Youth Collaborator for the DCMS National Youth Strategy.

I left home at 16 to follow my coach to Cambridge. After 6 yrs of injury, illness, and ear surgeries I finally came back to form in 2002. I was hit by a bus 2 weeks before the Olympic Trials in 2004. I then walked away from the sport for 17 yrs.

I moved to Northern Ireland the day of the UK Covid Lockdown with two babies and what we could pack in two cars. After miscarriages and other personal events I bumped into an old swim coach. He encouraged me to get back into swimming to clear my head.

I train just 3 times a week in the pool due to work, small children, and the inability to get my ears wet. After 2 yrs of training I am setting lifetime bests. I am new to deaf swimming after significant complications to recent surgery. I now have to race and train with vertigo, nausea, and pain.

I started playing golf at age of 8 through the influence of my father and brother. I fell in love and out of love with it during my teenage years but then committed to golf since age of 17.

Joined England Deaf Golf at age of 18 through social media and ever since I have been competing in the Deaf Events.

In 2016, I got selected to play in World Deaf Golf Championships and on my debut I won the championship by 6 strokes!

I was invited to play in the Deaflympics in 2017 but the timing was not right as there was death in the family. And then, in 2021 COVID happened, and I didn't want to take the risk of travelling. I am happy to be selected again to compete in Tokyo this November and am looking forward to it.

I grew up in the hearing world and only found out about deaf football at 16.

From this point on deaf football has been a major part of my life.

I've always loved swimming, and dreamed of competing at the Deaflympics since six years old, inspired by the 2009 Tapeii Deaflympics.

My first international competition was the European Deaf Swimming Championships in 2018 where I came 5th in 200m Butterfly.

I competed at the World Deaf Swimming Championships in 2023, despite being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 3 months before the competition. I persevered with my training and medical management and achieved two personal bests and a final at the Worlds.

In the past year, I've changed swimming clubs, due to graduating university, and I'm proud that my training is going incredibly well, hitting personal bests recently. I am very grateful to the support of my new club and coaches.

I am currently a student at a grammar school, and I started swimming after encouragement from my parents. My friends and family have supported me throughout my swimming journey, and in the future I plan to study engineering.

I have been into football for my whole life. I thank my mother for being there with me for my journey from when I was a toddler.

I met Claire Stancliffe and she inspired me a lot. I wanted to be like her!

My family played football, such as my dad, brother, uncles and cousins.

My journey into sport began at a young age. Football was more than a hobby; it became my voice (sign). As a profoundly Deaf athlete and proud British Sign Language user, sport gave me the platform to express myself beyond words. I started playing for Fulham Deaf Football club before being selected for Great Britain Deaf Football and England Deaf Women’s Futsal teams. Representing my country on the international stage, from the Deaflympics to European and World Championships, has been a defining part of my life.

Outside of sport, I am a Graduate Accountant Trainee, studying towards becoming a Chartered Public Finance Accountant. I'm passionate about personal growth, equality in sport, and breaking down barriers for Deaf athletes.

In my downtime, I enjoy strength training, yoga, and the occasional day at the spa for a well-earned reset. My inspiration comes from the Deaf community and from women in sport who challenge stereotypes and lead by example.

My other hobby is badminton.

This is my first time participating in DeaflympicsGB and I’ve always dream of winning a Gold medal!

I’ve played football since I was six, starting in my garden with my brother. From an early age, I played in the Kent county and Selkent youth leagues. I went on to play for Charlton and Fulham deaf teams, before being selected for England Deaf U21s. After trials at Fleet Town, I signed and became a regular, later playing for Camberley, where I made over 50 appearances.

Internationally, I’ve represented England Deaf at the World Championships in 2023 at Malaysia and the European deaf championships in 2024 at Turkey.

Outside football, I enjoy running, interval training and exploring coffee shops while practicing my brewing skills.

My grandfather and father have always inspired me to stay driven and never be satisfied.

I played for DUSC Sunday Boys Club, wining many trophies & reaching the Scottish Cup Final twice.

I started playing Semi-professional football at 16 for Lochee Harp before moving to Lochee United at 17. Played in the top semi-professional league for 2 years, then moved to Forfar West End, then Carnoustie Panmure for final my 2 years in semi-professional football.

From there I joined my local team, Stobswell AFC, where we won a double and a treble in the 23/24 season. I made my debut in deaf football in 2018 for Scotland in Ireland.

My first game in deaf football opened up an opportunity to have trials for the GB Deaflympic qualifiers against Greece and Russia. I captained Scotland in our first major at the Euros 2024 in Turkey which is amazing achievement due to the long beautiful history of Scotland Deaf Football Association

I attend Mary Hare School for the Deaf in Newbury, which has given me the confidence to pursue my dream of playing football competitively. Having passed my GCSE’s I am now taking three BTEC qualifications, including Sports.

It has been an exciting two years, where I have been selected for the FA national emerging talent programme & nominated for the Variety Club of Great Britain Disability Rising Star award for my football. I now support this charity as an ambassador. I received £500 for my journey to Tokyo from Wiltshire Council under their “funding of future Olympian and Paralympian” scholarships scheme.

The pinnacle lately was representing GB in the final qualifier for the Tokyo Games, against Poland. This was my first game for our country and we had to win to qualify. It was a tough game, but we won 3-2 with me scoring what turned out to be the winning goal. This is something I will never forget. I have been told that I am the youngest ever person to score in an International for deaf women’s football.

I love running and Football. I have played football for 10 years. Started at Raith Rovers Girls.

An inspiration was Pamela at Disability Sports Fife who helped me with my running at the athletics.

My hobby is CrossFit.

Sport has always been a big part of my life. I had the honour of representing Great Britain Deaf Swimming at three major competitions, including the 2017 Deaflympics in Türkiye when I was just 18 years old. After that incredible experience, I decided to follow my true passion—football. I made the switch and went on to represent the England Deaf Football Team at two major international tournaments: the World Championships in Malaysia and the European Deaf Championships in Türkiye. Now, I’m preparing for the Deaflympics 2025 in Japan this November, and I couldn’t be more excited. Outside of football, I enjoy going to the gym to stay fit and active, and I love spending time with my friends and family. My biggest inspiration is my Dad— he’s always been there for me. Whether it was taking me to football training and matches growing up, or waking up at 5am every day to drive me to swimming training, he’s never given up on me. He still comes to the majority of my football games, even the ones abroad. I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support.

My dad is my inspiration - he is a role model to myself and to the deaf community. He has devoted huge amount of time ensuring that I am continuing with my football and taught me about resilience, commitment and dedication to your sport, family and friends.

I've was always a runner but was doing it for fun/freedom - I would've be a farmer if covid didn't happen as that was my pathway however when covid came, I lost everything and thought I would take triathlon up seriously and I've never looked back since and enjoying whatever unfolds in front of me!

My journey to prepare for Deaflympics has been hard. I had an operation on my ACL and have been working towards being ready for Tokyo.

My journey into golf started when I was young with my dad taking me to the driving range. I fell in love from it there really and my journey into deaf golf only started in the last year or so.

From a young age, my Grandad got me into football for my local team - Woodhouse Colts. I was originally an outfield player and went in goal due to an injury to our keeper at the time. The position came naturally to me and it’s where I’ve played ever since. I’ve played for several teams around the midlands area and won several trophies over the years as well as personal achievements.

I got into deaf football through the captain (Jamie Clarke). I played against him at a competitive hearing level. got introduced to the England Deaf Team, and the rest is history.

I am very competitive and ambitious. I will always try new things, push my body to the limit and never give up. I have competed in bodybuilding competitions on stage. I do CrossFit as well which pushes me to my absolute limits. I like to stay active all the time, can’t sit still at all! I believe in the squad we have, and I believe we can get Gold for GB!

I’ve been deaf since birth but took up running aged 8 and always loved the competitive nature of sport racing against my twin sister.

I was first inspired to take up sport watching Mo Farah win the double at the London olympics in 5000 and 10000 aged just 5.

I always enjoy playing the guitar and just spending time with friends.

I started playing football when I was 6 and have played ever since, including playing for Taunton District Schools. I am also a massive golf fan and player!

I’ve always enjoyed playing football and going to Japan will be really important to me as it will be my last tournament for national level, I will miss it.

My other hobby at moment is running.

When I was little my Dad took me to a golf practice ground to hit few balls and here I am today!

When I’m not golfing I enjoy working out at the gym, watching F1 and collecting Polemon.

I spent most of all life watching my Dad playing football with local Deaf football teams, and later watched my brother, who is also deaf, play for a local mainstream football team. Being inspired, I joined their girls football team and remained there for two years. After I left school, I then joined my local ladies team and have played for them since.

I have always enjoyed football, swimming and Athletics and it has always been my dream to represent my country in the Deaflympics.

I was born a fiery competitor. Whatever the sport, I just loved competing! At 14, I was introduced to tennis by my father and uncle. I started playing every day, playing local tournaments every weekend and at every chance just getting myself onto a tennis court.

Through tennis I have travelled the world, met some of my best friends and seen wonderful places. I have been extremely fortunate to have been given such a fantastic opportunity. My ambition is to give people the opportunities I was given through the love of the game tennis.

I have always had a deep love for animals. Animals remind me of the importance of kindness, compassion, and connection. They teach us to appreciate the simple joys in life and the value of unconditional love.

I wasn’t allowed in the water until I was year old due to ear infections, then that was the only place I was quiet as a child; my happy place.

My coach Barbara inspires me through her hard work and dedication to making us swimmers be the best we can be and always encouraging us to try hard. She’s been there since I started swimming and has always been a person to go to if I wasn’t sure on any technique or what I could do to improve. I’ve been swimming competitively since I was 8 years old.

My Mam taught me how to swim along with many others who went on to join clubs.

My other sport/hobby is horse riding. I own a mare called Evie who is 10 yrs old and loves to be mischievous, but never fails to make me smile. I am a qualified swimming instructor and enjoy seeing the children develop through the stages and progressing to become amazing swimmers .

I’m a long-distance swimmer. Swimming is one of my biggest passions and after a long day at school, there’s nothing better than diving into the pool. Pushing through hard training sessions is one of the best feelings.

The Deaflympics will be my first international competition. I’ve dreamed about this since I was nine and met Danielle Joyce. She showed us her Deaflympics medals and I said to myself “one day, I'm going to be like her" not knowing how much hard work I had to put in to make the dream reality.

My parents took me swimming at a young age, to play in the water and have fun. Now I'm getting ready for Deaflympics! I'm excited but incredibly nervous. Who knows, maybe I'll even come back with a medal?!

I thank my coach Kylie for where I am today. She was my swim teacher and put me in the squad. I’m grateful for that and to my other coaches, including current coach, Adam. They are crucial in making me believe I can achieve what I want. Outside swimming, playing music helps me relax and escape.

Just after my 4th birthday, I was diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. My hearing was fading, and I became profoundly deaf. There were no deaf schools nearby so I went to a mainstream school. I couldn’t hear the lessons, and the noise made it impossible to join in.

As my hearing deteriorated, I relied more on lip-reading. I wanted to fit in but felt I was on the outside looking in. I missed out on a lot, especially sports. I needed a sport I could do on my own terms. That’s when I found swimming. Eventually, my parents found a new school, where I was understood and able to be myself. I began to heal and return to swimming.

I joined a new club and became part of the Great Britain Deaf Swimming team. I found great friendships and had the honour of representing my country at some of the biggest deaf swimming events in the world. Swimming helped me reconnect with the world and gave me back my confidence and purpose.

At every step of this journey, my family have been by my side.
